Super League disciplinary as Wigan Warriors star banned ahead of Challenge Cup semi-finals and Maika Sivo learns fate

Hull FC

The disciplinary verdict is out following the conclusion of round 10, and a total of seven players have been cited by the Match Review Panel.

Following the weekend’s fixtures, a number of big-name players were set to be put under the microscope for their actions, and results could have had implications on this week’s Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Hull KR star Mikey Lewis was put on report after he attempted to kick the ball, but instead caught the head of Castlford Tigers man Sam Hall.

The incident was accidental and Hall’s passing of the resultant HIA will also have been taken into account. As a result, Lewis has not been cited not charged by the panel, and will be free to play this week.

One man who will be missing out of this week’s Cup action is Ethan Havard, who has picked up a Grade B charge.

Havard already had 3.5 points on his record, and with a Grade B being worth three points, he reaches the threshold for a one-match ban.

Wigan will be hampered by that decision, but the blow will be lessened knowing that Sam Walters and Harry Smith both return this week after completing their three-match suspensions.

Leeds Rhinos winger Maika Sivo has been hit with a fine and five penalty for his sin-bin incident involving Wakefield Trinity full-back Josh Rourke.

Sivo caught Rourke high and late, but there was mitigation in that the Trinity man was slipping as Sivo made contact.

The Fijian international has been charged, but he has not received a ban.

Sivo has been handed a Grade C charge, but with only 0.75 points on his record it means he would have needed a Grade D or higher to cross the suspension threshold and miss Leeds’ next game against Wigan.

Elsewhere, there is a ban for Bradford Bulls hooker Mitch Souter, who has been given a Grade D charge for a dangerous throw.

Souter will miss two games, but with Bradford having a reserve game next week, he is expected to be able to use one one of those games for that tie, meaning he will only miss one league match.

Hull FC’s Amir Bourouh has also copped a ban after a Grade C head contact charge. He will miss one game, but like Souter should be able to utilise the loophole of using it during next week’s reserve tie.

Wakefield Trinity man, Cameron Scott, who left the field after five minutes on a stretcher against Leeds Rhinos, has been hit with a Grade B charge, whilst Henry O’Kane of Toulouse and Ata Hingano of York Knights have both landed Grade A no further action charges for late contact.
