Super League disciplinary as 18 charged and calls made on Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos red cards

After Round Nine of Super League, the RFL’s Match Review Panel have ruled and handed down their disciplinary verdict.

Rivals Round saw the first red card of the season as Cade Cust got sent off but escaped a ban, however, Round Nine saw two red cards with both coming in the same game.

Sauaso Sue was controversially sent off in the 60th minute against Leeds Rhinos with Leeds’ skipper Ash Handley sent his marching orders ten minute later, with both incidents relating to head contact and both being questioned heavily.

Jack Sinfield was also sent to the sin bin in that game with plenty suggesting that the youngster’s tackle was actually the worst of the lot given the lack of mitigation for height on his high shot.

Saturday then saw four players sent to the sin bin with three cards coming in the golden point victory for Catalans over Wakefield Trinity.

Sunday’s game also saw a yellow with Liam Knight sent to the sin bin late on as Hull FC lost 36-12 against Wigan Warriors.

Looking ahead to Super League Magic Weekend, all players who were dismissed and a number of others will be wary of the disciplinary verdict that has now been confirmed.

Round Nine Super League disciplinary verdict as 18 charged

The RFL have shared the Match Review Panel’s disciplinary ruling with a total of 18 Super League players charged, however, none have been banned.

Of the two players sent off, Ash Handley is handed a Grade B charge which is worth three points but his red card deducts one point (in effect for ‘time served) meaning he actually only is hit with two penalty points.

There is no action taken against Hull KR forward Sauaso Sue but there is a Grade B charge of Head Contact for Jack Sinfield, who was sin binned early on in that game.

Other players to recieve Grade B charges this week are Sam Lisone (Contact with Match Official), Darnell McIntosh (Dangerous Throw/Lift), Ethan O’Neill, Luke Keary, Isaiah Vagana, Ben Garcia, Mason Lino, Joe Westerman (all Head Contact), and Leroy Cudjoe (Late Contact on Passer).

Seven others are handed Grade A charges including Liam Knight, who was sin binned, with two other Hull FC men picking up points.
