Round 18 of Super League is behind us but the disciplinary fallout from the games is still to be seen with players set to be charged today.
The Match Review Panel will meet today to assess all incidents including those that were not punished at the time.
Recent disciplinary panels have seen players handed whopping charges with Castleford’s Liam Horne found guilty of a Grade E charge for making contact with a player who may or may not be injured.
No such charges are expected this week but we’ve cast an eye over some of the key events from Round 18 of Super League that could warrant disciplinary action.
Who will be sweating the Super League disciplinary verdict?
Two players were sent to the sin bin this past weekend with one of those coming in confusing circumstances.
Jez Litten left the field for a HIA but was quickly reprimanded for a tackle off the ball which led to him being sin binned. As such the man who replaced him had to also sit ten minutes out, given Litten was already sat down for his HIA.
Litten tackled Lachlan Lam off the ball, however, he had been involved in an incident with Lam just seconds earlier which had left the Hull KR hooker ‘busted up’. Willie Peters spoke on it post-match stating he would need to watch it back and if he did, he’d see Lam seemingly kneeing or kicking Litten in the face.
The Match Review Panel will have to determine whether that was accidental, whilst also working out if Litten needs reprimanding beyond the initial ten minute sin bin.
Agnatius Paasi was the other man to be sin binned. His high swinging arm merited an obvious ten minutes in the bin and could well lead to a charge.
Earlier that game, St Helens captain Jonny Lomax avoided the sin bin for a tip tackle on Lachie Miller with the full-back teetering on going beyond the horizontal.
The Match Review Panel will meet later today with all of the above and a number of other incidents likely to be looked at.
