Leeds Rhinos forward Tom Holroyd has been banned by the RFL’s Match Review Panel following Sunday’s clash with Hull KR. The Leeds prop is one of eight Super League players who have been charged this week, but he’s the only man to have given a suspension by disciplinary.
Holroyd has been sanctioned for Grade B head contact which has seen him collect three penalty points. However, given his previous, he now has 10.5 penalty points and that has landed him a one-match suspension and a fine.
As such, he’ll miss this week’s Super League clash against St Helens and that will come as a blow to Leeds, who have the top two very much in their sights.
Of the eight other charges, Joe Ofahengaue has picked up two of them, with the Leigh Leopards forward being hit with Grade A and Grade B late contact on the passer charges. He narrowly avoids a ban and he’ll be walking a tightrope now, with his next offence almost certain to land him a suspension.
Zac Woolford of Huddersfield Giants, Yusuf Aydin or Hull FC, Leigh’s Lachlan Lam and Warrington Wolves forward Lachlan Fitzgibbon also received Grade B charges but have been handed fines rather than suspensions.
Huddersfield Giants pair Leroy Cudjoe and Taane Milne have also been charged but their Grade A offences have seen them collect just one point each.
There was a gouging accusation placed on report during the Hull KR v Leeds Rhinos contest, but the RFL has confirmed to Serious About RL that no further action will be taken.
