The shortlist for the Super League Coach of the Year has been confirmed with three coaches in the running for the award.
Hull KR head coach Willie Peters took the crown in 2024 and he’s in line to retain the award having led the Robins to a first-ever League Leaders Shield in Super League.
In fact, the three-man shortlist consists of the most recent three winners in Peters, Wigan Warriors’ Matt Peet and Leigh Leopards’ Adrian Lam.
That trio also represent the three teams who finished first, second and third in Super League this season.
The shortlist was confirmed by a statement by Super League who confirmed that the trio had been selected by poll with the award to be handed out on the Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday, October 7th.

Super League Coach of the Year contenders named
A statement from Super League read: “The last three winners of the Betfred Super League Coach of the Year Award are in the running for repeat recognition in 2025.
“Adrian Lam of Leigh Leopards, Matt Peet of Wigan Warriors and Willie Peters of Hull KR have received the most votes in a poll of the 12 Super League head coaches – with the winner to be announced at the Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday October 7, in the build-up to the 2025 Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.”
Whilst all three are very worthy candidates, there are plenty of other coaches who could feel hard done by including Leeds Rhinos’ Brad Arthur.
He’s guided a side who finished eighth to fourth, whilst Wakefield’s Daryl Powell guided Trinity into the play-offs on the back of their promotion.
Salford Red Devils’ Paul Rowley has also worked wonders in incredibly tough circumstances, managing three wins along the way, whilst John Cartwright of Hull FC took his side from three wins to the precipice of the top six.
