Super League side Toulouse Olympique have confirmed that Australian hooker Brendan Hands has signed a new contract at the club.
Former Parramatta man Hands originally signed on loan for the French side in 2025, but after winning the Championship Grand Final, made his stay a permanent one.
He agreed a one-year deal to join them in only their second-ever Super League season, and he has taken to the top flight like a duck to water, consistently impressing with his defensive work especially.
Hands is the current top tackler in the competition, and by some distance too. After 16 rounds, he has made 665 tackles, an average of 41.5 per game. Behind him sits Wigan’s Brad O’Neill, who is just under 100 behind him on 568.
Given his performances this season, the Olympians have opted to act quickly, and secure his signature before interest arose from elsehwere.
The 27-year-old has landed a two-year deal with the option of a third, meaning he could remain in France until the end of 2029.
“I’m really happy to be staying with the club,” Hands said after agreeing new terms.
“There’s a great culture and a strong vision being built here, and I feel like we’re creating something special that I want to be a part of for years to come.”
Hands is the latest player to agree new terms at the club, following in the footsteps of Olly Ashall-Bott, Paul Ulberg and Mathieu Jussaume in recent weeks.
