Salford Red Devils have seen one of their most promising young players leave with a Super League rival signing them for 2026.
In what has been a torrid year for the Red Devils due to their financial woes which have created lacklustre results on the field, the players have continued to deliver for the Salford fans with their effort and intent.
One of those players who has caught the eye more than most is Harvey Wilson, the former Wigan forward, who was played all throughout the pack and impressed ever since his debut last June.
The bad news continues for Salford fans with Wilson set to leave the Red Devils at the end of the year, signing a two-year deal with Catalans Dragons.
Les Dracs have promised a new recruitment style which is focused on young players and removing the old adage of Perpignan being a ‘retirement home’ for veteran Australians. In signing Wilson to a two-year deal, Catalans have certainly made good on that promise.

News of Wilson’s exit was confirmed by the French club with the off-contract 21-year-old announced as their third signing for 2026, following Toby Sexton and Solomona Faataape.
He’ll add plenty to their forward pack and will link up with former teammate Oliver Partington, who has been one of the Dragons best players in 2025.
An announcement from the French club confirmed: “Catalans Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of Harvey Wilson from the 2026 season.
“The young England prop, who plays for Salford Red Devils, has signed a two-year deal with the club.”
Speaking on his move, Wilson said: “I am really grateful for the opportunity to sign with such a great club. I’m excited to move over there and meet the team and the fans. Can’t wait to get stuck in and do what I can for the club. À bientôt !”
Having signed for Salford from Wigan, Wilson has gone on to make 22 Super League appearances with the majority coming this year after quickly establishing himself as a talented forward.
Catalans head coach Joel Tomkins said : “Harvey will be another exciting addition to our squad. I know he will raise our standards in training and increase competition for places in every position in the forwards. His versatility will be a big asset for us next season.”
