Super League off-contract XIII for 2026 including St Helens and Leigh Leopards men

There are plenty of Super League players without deals for 2026 and we’ve picked out the best possible XIII of off-contract players.

Recruitment is in full swing ahead of 2026, as clubs start to finalise deals and get their squad together for next season.

Big names like Jazz Tevaga, Sam Lisone and Tom Amone are all on the move, with plenty of signings and contract renewals yet to be announced. 

As it stands, there is still an abundance of talent on the open market. Here is a full squad of players still without a club for next year. 

Who are the best off-contract Super League players for 2026?

Full Back: Luke Hooley

The Castleford Tigers full back has spent time in the Championship this season, after joining Bradford Bulls on loan for the season. The 26-year-old has had opportunity in Super League with Leeds and the Tigers, but it seems he has already played his final game for the West Yorkshire side.  

Wingers: Tom Briscoe and Josh Charnley 

The experienced duo are still without a club for 2026. This week, Leigh winger Charnley has been under fire from the press and Leopards fans after stating a ‘dream’ move would be a return to Wigan, however he has clarified his intentions to stay at the Leopards. 

Briscoe returned to Hull FC from the Leopards half-way through last year. The 35-year-old would still provide experience and could be a solid depth option for any team, should the Black and Whites not renew his contract. 

Centres: Matthieu Laguerre and Rodrick Tai 

Laguerre is one of fourteen players who are still without a contract at the Dragons. Scoring only four tries this season and none since the start of May, the end of season run-in could be crucial to him gaining a contract wherever that may be. 

Tai’s move to Warrington in 2024 has not worked out how the PNG international had hoped. Spending time at Widnes Vikings in the Championship, it feels Tai has never been first choice for the club, with the likes of Connor Wrench and Aaron Lindop getting in ahead of him. Still only 26, a move to pastures new could kick start his career. 

Halves: Lachlan Lam and Theo Fages 

Leigh have still not officially confirmed that Lachlan Lam will remain at the club for 2026, although it is highly likely he will sign a new deal to stay with the Leopards. 

The Leopards have three halves all out of contract, with Gareth O’Brien and Ben McNamara also not confirmed to be staying. 

For Fages, a move back to France hasn’t lived up to expectations, with the Dragons performing below par this campaign. However, when he is playing his best footy, he can change matches with his game management and precision kicking. 

Props: Jack Ashworth and Loghan Lewis 

Ashworth has been linked with a move to Castleford Tigers for next season but nothing has been confirmed just yet by either club. He’s enjoyed a strong season for the Black and Whites and got over the line on Sunday against Wigan Warriors.

There is no doubting Lewis’ desire to stay at Salford, and the prop has been unlucky with injuries since his move to the UK. However, with the Red Devils financial issues and them being unable to secure any players’ futures beyond the end of the year, it is a high possibility that Lewis will exit the club at the season’s end. 

Second Row: Curtis Sironen and Matt Whitley 

The Saints duo are highly experienced and have plenty of talent still to offer. Especially considering Morgan Knowles, James Bell and Joe Batchelor are all leaving the club, you would expect one, if not both, players to stay at the Totally Wicked Stadium. 

Loose Forward: Jordy Crowther 

Capable to play hooker or at loose forward, Crowther has failed to reach the incredible form he showed at Wakefield that earned him a move to Warrington. However, with a new club that knows how to get the best out of him, the 28-year-old would be a solid pickup for any club.
