Best off-contract Super League centres including Wigan Warriors star and Warrington Wolves quartet

Wigan Warriors

There are a host of quality centres in Super League who don’t have a deal for 2026 and we’ve picked out some of the best.

Under the new rules, teams have had since the end of last year to negotiate with rival players and try and secure deals, however, plenty of top-tier players remain off-contract in the centre positions.

Some teams even have multiple centres coming off contract meaning they could find themselves in a very tough position next year. The positive news would be that there are plenty of options to choose from, and we’ve run through some of the top names.

Who are the best off-contract Super League centres

Adam Keighran (Wigan Warriors)

The best centre in Super League is Keighran’s partner Jake Wardle but the Australian is certainly among those fighting to be named as second-best. As such, it’s a surprise Wigan have allowed his contract to run down and Keighran has previously talked about a possible NRL return. If any other Super League club could make a play for him then it would be a massive coup.

Toby King, Rodrick Tai, Connor Wrench, Stefan Ratchford (all Warrington Wolves)

Warrington have three outright centres off-contract and utility Stefan Ratchford, who has played plenty in the centres, without a deal as well. Per reports from All Out Rugby League, Toby King has re-signed which is a huge boost but there are questions over the other three. Arron Lindop could miss the early part of next season due to his ACL injury making the task of either re-signing or signing new players more important.

Matthieu Laguerre, Arthur Romano, Reimis Smith (all Catalans Dragons)

Like Warrington, Catalans have a number of starting centres without a deal for 2026 including overseas man Reimis Smith. Romano has been shunted into the pack of late due to their second-row issues but both he and Laguerre are talented homegrown players with brilliant Super League pedigree.

Best of the rest

Whilst there are plenty more available, including some promising youngsters, the three most ‘ready to start’ players would be Jake Bibby (Huddersfield Giants), Ethan Clark-Wood (Leeds Rhinos) and Chris Hankinson (Salford Red Devils). Clark-Wood has found games hard to come by since arriving and would take up a quota spot. Like Jake Bibby, he is also capable of playing on the wing whilst Hankinson is also capable at full-back, making him a very handy utility back for teams to target.
