Wigan Warriors have led the way for the Super League attendances recorded in round eight despite a disappointing defeat for Matt Peet’s side.
Castleford Tigers scored 18 unanswered points in just 12 minutes in the second-half as Ryan Carr’s men came from behind to land their third Super League win of the season, whilst also condemning Wigan to their third straight defeat in Super League.
That game concluded the round but we started off with St Helens beating Hull FC in what turned out to be John Cartwright’s final game in charge of the club in an emotion-fuelled game at the MKM Stadium.
Friday saw Hull KR hammer Toulouse on the road before Leeds Rhinos did the same to Huddersfield Giants. Leigh Leopards snapped their losing streak and defeated York Knights in the evening’s other match.
Saturday saw Wakefield Trinity cruise to a win over an injury-hit Bradford Bulls before Catalans Dragons caused the upset to beat Warrington Wolves in a very well-attended game.

Super League round eight attendances
Over 9,500 fans watched that game in Perpignan making it the third best-attended match of the round, however, two games did surpass the 10,000 figure.
They were Hull FC’s home defeat to St Helens with 12,148 in attendance whilst Wigan’s loss to Castleford was witnessed by almost 13,500 fans.
Wakefield Trinity pulled a very strong crowd of 8,608 in a near sell-out on Saturday afternoon in the last of the impressive Super League attendances.
Just over 6,000 watched Toulouse and Hull KR whilst only 5,644 watched the West Yorkshire clash between Huddersfield and Leeds, however, it should be noted that the crowd was around 1,500 up on the Giants’ last home game against York.
As for York, their attendance is yet to be confirmed for the loss to Leigh Leopards.
