Super League attendances see four games hit 10,000 as Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors lead the way

The Super League attendances from Round Eleven are among the most impressive in the competition so far this season with four games breaking the 10,000 barrier.

Super League took a break last weekend for the Challenge Cup semi-finals and the attendances for those games clocked in at 8,402 and 11,722, however, the attendances from Super League Round Eleven actually average more than that figure of 10,062.

That’s thanks in large part to the very strong crowds at Headingley and the Brick Community Stadium with Leeds Rhinos versus Hull FC and Wigan Warriors versus Leigh Leopards both surpassing 15,000.

St Helens and Hull KR both won to nil and they both recorded attendances of more than 10,000 with the Robins beating Huddersfield to return to the top of Super League.

Sunday’s fixtures saw attendances stoop as we headed to West Yorkshire for Wakefield Trinity’s dominant win over Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tiger’s victory over Salford Red Devils.

Round Eleven Super League attendances with impressive average

The action this week got underway on Thursday with a game that between two teams who had failed to fully hit their stride in St Helens and Catalans Dragons. Paul Wellens’ side secured a pressure-relieving win that will undoubtedly add pressure on Steve McNamara as they registered a huge 40-0 win in front of 10,337.

The two largest attendances of the week came on Friday as Wigan beat Leigh in the Battle of the Borough to move top of Super League, at least until Hull KR played. Almost 17,500 watched that whilst over 15,500 watched Leeds secure a last-minute win over Hull FC.

Hull KR then did return to the top of Super League and the attendance was confirmed, something that doesn’t always happen at Craven Park with almost 11,000 watching that 34-0 win.

The latter of Sunday’s games saw Castleford hammer Salford 48-16 with the attendance just under 5,500 but the Tigers’ West Yorkshire rivals eased past Warrington earlier in the afternoon in front of over 6,500.

St Helens 40-0 Catalans Dragons – 10,337
Leeds Rhinos 18-16 Hull FC – 15,602
Wigan Warriors 36-28 Leigh Leopards – 17,449
Hull KR 34-0 Huddersfield Giants – 10,764
Wakefield Trinity 40-10 Warrington Wolves – 6,629
