St Helens v Salford Red Devils finishes up round sixteen of Super League this Sunday, and the team news is in.

A win for Saints wouldn’t see them move from fifth spot in the table, but it would close the gap up to fourth-placed Leigh Leopards to just one point.

Salford are still just with one win to their name, but with some experienced names returning and debuting today, could a shock result be on the cards?

Following the squad news from during the week, here’s how both St Helens and Salford Red Devils line up for Sunday afternoon’s fixture.

St Helens coach Paul Wellens has stuck with the same seventeen that beat Leeds Rhinos 18-4 last weekend.

It was thought that George Whitby would return to the halves after sitting out last week due to HIA protocols, but Wellens has stuck with seniority in the halves. Whitby is named as the 18th man though.

Deon Cross faces his old side for the first time since leaving the Red Devils in April and pairs with youngster Owen Dagnall on the left-hand side.

Jack Welsby, Mark Percival and Joe Batchelor are all out still but are expected back within the coming weeks.

Salford Red Devils team news

Salford boss Paul Rowley makes a ton of changes again to the side that lost 38-6 to Hull FC last time out.

In come Jayden Nikorima and loanee Danny Richardson in the halves, with the latter making his debut for the Red Devils. This should give them some stability and creativity in attack.

This means that Ryan Brierley moves back to his preferred fullback role and Esan Marsters moves into the centres.

Ethan Ryan also returns on the wing to partner Marsters, with Chris Hankinson and Jonny Vaughan down the left. Vaughan features against his parent club.

Kobe Rugless and Harvey Wilson come into the starting line-up, replacing Cain Robb at hooker and Joe Shorrocks at loose forward respectively. Robb sits out after a failed HIA last time out and Shorrocks serves a one-match ban.

Nathan Connell, Charlie Glover and Justin Sangare all take spots on the bench.
