Former Salford Red Devils star and recent St Helens signing Jackson Hastings has offered his support to his former club after their liquidation.
Hastings made his name in Super League whilst at Salford, signing with the Red Devils midway through the 2018 season before going on to have a Man of Steel-winning campaign in 2019 as Ian Watson’s side made it the Grand Final.
A move to Wigan Warriors followed before he made his NRL return and after countless links back to Super League, the playmaker has returned for 2026 after signing out of the blue for St Helens.
It sees him link up with former Salford coach Paul Rowley who left the Red Devils at the end of the 2025 season, a campaign that will be remembered for the mess the club was plunged into.
The reality of that hit home on Wednesday as HMRC wound Salford Red Devils (2013) Limited up, resulting in liquidation with plans now ongoing for consortiums to create a phoenix club for 2026.
Former Salford man Jackson Hastings has now offered his support in helping that happen.
Jackson Hastings’ emotional messages to Salford Red Devils after club’s liquidation
All throughout his time back down under, Hastings has been a vocal follower and supporter of Super League, with his connection to Salford evident.
After Wednesday’s news he took to X to share footage of himself and the club’s fans, simply captioning it “@SalfordDevils”, accompanied by a love heart.
With all the talk of consortiums forming to take on the club, one fan reached out stating that it would be “great” to have Hastings involved if possible, despite his involvement with St Helens as a player.
To that, Hastings responded: “Focus is 100% on winning with Saints but whatever the community needs from me to help a small % in getting the club back on track, I’ll do. Need more info.”
It’s a testament to how much Hastings loved his time at the club with many viewing him as one of the modern-day greats at Salford.
In another post on X where Hastings reacted to the club’s statement of liquidation, he said: “What a sad, sad day. On behalf of myself and my family, thank you Salford Red Devils. You saved not only career but my life.
“I cherish every moment I had in that shirt. I hope this can one day be resolved one day soon and the fans can get their club back. Love, 31.”
One such consortium interested in Salford are led by former player Mason Caton-Brown with a statement shared to Serious About Rugby League about those intention.
