St Helens have become the latest team to reveal their home shirt for 2026, however their unveiling didn’t quite go as planned.
In memory of the inaugural Super League season in 1996, Saints have gone retro for their home jersey next year, whilst celebrating that incredible year they had 30 years ago.
Winning the Challenge Cup and the league title (Grand Finals weren’t introduced until 1998), the club will honour legends of the past, whilst also looking ahead and inspiring the future.
Featuring a double red vee shape, one that is so synonymous with the club. The shirt is predominantly white, with red across the shoulder and neck area. There are also red stripes going down the kit, whist Home Bargains remain as the club’s main shirt sponsor.
Due to the history of the kit and it’s significance, the club have opted to swap the club’s badge for the St Helens town crest, along with the motto ‘Ex Terra Lucem’, meaning ‘from the ground, comes light’.
Saints are now the ninth team out of the 14 Super League teams to release their home colours, however their reveal too a slight delay, due to an unforseen circumstance.
An technical outage at ‘Cloudfare’, which run huge websites such as X and ChatGPT, caused the issue, and which meant that they were delayed in releasing the jersey.
However, the club saw the funny side, and decided to keep their fans in the loop, whilst revealing some subtle clues as to what the shirt was going to revolve around.
Trying to launch a kit here…🙄

Whilst their home jersey may be a reflection of what has happened in the past, the 2026 season will be one that marks a new era at the club, as Paul Rowley guides the club in his first year as head coach.
Signing a three-year deal, the 2019-2022 Super League Champions have made some important additions from overseas, including David Klemmer and Jacob Host. They have also decided to promote youth players to more prominent roles, with Harry Robertson, George Delaney and George Whitby all receiving squad numbers in the starting 17.
