The nominees for the 2025 Super League Young Player of the Year have been confirmed with multiple clubs represented.
It’s a prestigious award which has been won by some players who have gone on to be among the best that Super League has ever produced with previous winners including a host of names, though the most recent winners are Junior Nsemba, Josh Thewlis and Jack Welsby.
Sam Tomkins claimed it twice whilst Rob Burrow is another who has claimed the award with St Helens legend Keiron Cunningham the very first winner, highlighting how much of an honour it is.
Players who are under 21 when the season begins are eligible to win with four players nominated in 2025.
Those four include last year’s winner Junior Nsemba and the 2025 Super League top try-scorer Lewis Martin, showcasing how strong the talent is this season.

Also nominated is Huddersfield Giants full-back George Flanagan Jr with the youngster having a breakout campaign as he became a beneficiary of the club’s torrid injury luck,
Thrust in and playing more games than he could have expected, the former Bradford Bulls player has scored ten tries and registered five assists in his 23 appearances in 2025.
St Helens centre Harry Robertson, who was named to the 30-man train-on England squad, is also nominated after his breakthrough season. He featured in 2024 at full-back but the shift to centre has seen him explode into one of the competition’s bright sparks.
The teenager has made 21 appearances, scoring 12 tries and registering five assists. His early season form saw him score five in the opening three games as St Helens started their season with a bang.
As referenced, the 2024 winner Junior Nsemba is selected once again and despite a quieter season than last, he has still been exceptional. Making 26 appearances, the 21-year-old has scored seven tries and also managed eight assists but his 136 tackle busts highlight the powerful player he is.
Finally, Lewis Martin could land a Dream Team and Young Player of the Year double after being nominated following 25 tries in 27 games. He was one of only three players to play every minute of the campaign, scoring against every other club in the process.
As for the Women’s Super League, three players nominated with Wigan Warriors comprising two of the trio as Jenna Foubister and Izzy Rowe both got nods alongside Leeds Rhinos’ Ruby Bruce. Interestingly, both Foubister and Rowe were nominated for the Woman of Steel alongside Eva Hunter, who would have qualified for Young Player of the Year but was omitted.
The winner of the men’s and women’s Super League Young Player of the Year will be announced the the Rugby League Awards night in early October.
