St Helens have confirmed three more player exits with one of those men hinting at a switch to join Wigan Warriors.
Centre Jonny Vaughan, who has spent much of the season on loan at Salford, has taken to social media to address his St Helens exit, whilst also offering a huge hint to where his future may lie.
Having already announced that forwards Joe Batchelor and James Bell would be leaving at the end of the season, St Helens announced that Will Roberts, Dayon Sambou and Vaughan would also leave the club at the end of the season.
Sharing that news on his own personal social media, Vaughan thanked the club before stating that it was time for ‘new adventures and challenges’, with an accompanying ‘cherry’ emoji – a hint at a previously reported move to Wigan Warriors.
Those reports came from All Out Rugby League back in February with Sambou also linked with Wigan.
Young St Helens trio leave club
The club statement that Vaughan was reacting to had announced the exit of the three young backs with the trio all wished good luck in future ventures.
Vaughan, 20, made eight appearances for Saints and was playing well for Salford Red Devils in 2025 before a shoulder injury ended his season.
Serious About Rugby League has launched a brand new podcast which can be watched in full on our YouTube channel here.
Dayon Sambou, 20, had a spell in the St Helens first team earlier in the campaign as an injury crisis hit the outside backs. His debut came in Round Five against Warrington with his final game for the club coming in Round Nine against the same opponents.
Will Roberts, also 20, never debuted for St Helens despite being named to the 21-man squad on occasions. He ended the season on loan with Widnes where his brother Max also plays.
Following the announced exits of Morgan Knowles (Dolphins), Tee Ritson (Barrow Raiders), as well as both James Bell and Joe Batchelor, this trio become the latest confirmed departures from St Helens at the end of the season.
Always been a pleasure , never gave less than my best!❤️
Thanks @Saints1890 for making this lad live out his dream for the last 6+ years!Onto new adventures and challenges🍒 https://t.co/6vptmTJmmA
