St Helens bolster forward pack as NRL signing confirmed

St Helens have wasted no time at all in bringing in an overseas forward after letting go of one of their quota players earlier this week.

Agnatius Paasi departed the Red Vee with immediate effect, ending a six-year stay at the club.

Leaving with 99 Super League games under his belt, two Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup, Paasi’s replacement will be hoping to have that level of success over the next few years.

Daniel Suluka-Fifita has joined Paul Rowley’s side, making the move from NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs.

The 26-year-old has signed on the dotted line for the next two and a half seasons, meaning he is contracted until the end of 2028.

The 6’4 112kg prop is a welcome addition to the club, particularly with Matty Lees out for the season and Noah Stephens likely needing to miss eight weeks of action due to consecutive HIA’s.

The former Sydney Roosters and Gold Coast Titans man has made 46 NRL appearances in his career, but none have come in 2026, with Suluka-Fifita 2026 coming off the bench in reserve grade.

Commenting on the move, Saints Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “On behalf of everybody at the Club, I’d like to welcome Daniel to St Helens, and we look forward to seeing him in the Red V.

“After a difficult run with injuries has stretched the squad this season, it’s great to bring in a player of Daniel’s quality and character.”
