How to watch as Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves and St Helens dominate academy origin squad selection

The squads have been announced for Game II of the Academy Origin series between Yorkshire and Lancashire. Here is who is named, who to look out for and how to watch as Leeds Rhinos are one of three Super League teams to dominate selection.

Yorkshire claimed the victory in Game I, as they ran out 42-10 victors in Castleford. Joe Diskin, son of ex-Leeds hooker Matt, and Chris Matagi, son of former Tigers prop, Suaia, both scored tries in the victory.  

Leeds Rhinos lead the way with 13 players selected, all in the Yorkshire lineup. St Helens and Warrington Wolves both have eight players named. 

Four players, three from Yorkshire and one from Lancashire, have already made their Super League debut. Achie Sykes (Huddersfield), Callum Kemp (Hull FC), Ellis Lingard (Wakefield) and Ewan Irwin (Warrington) have all played first grade in the last 12 months. 

When and where to watch the match: 

The match will take place at Sewell Group Craven Park, home of Hull KR, on August 2 and will form part of a double header with the women’s origin series where stars of the Women’s Super League will do battle. 

The game will also be streamed live on the RFL’s YouTube channel.

Who are the key players for Yorkshire: 

Leeds Rhinos’ Presley Cassell is on the verge of making his Super League debut, and there is a high chance that happens this week against Salford. He is highly thought of at the club, and they view him as high potential. 

Hull FC halfback, Callum Kemp, is also impressing at academy level. With Jack Charles’ reported move to Hull KR, Kemp could have an improved chance at breaking into the first team. 

Who are the key players for Lancashire: 

Wigan’s Finlay Yeomans is a top talent in the Warriors’ reserves and academy setup. He has scored three tries in his last four matches in the u19’s. 

Warrington’s Ewan Irwin made his Super League debut as 18th man in Warrington’s win over St Helens earlier this season. He is the Wolves’ third youngest player in their history, after he made his first appearance at 17 years and 77 days old.
