Marc Sneyd won’t feature this week for Warrington Wolves but head coach Sam Burgess has confirmed that the veteran half will be back in the team at some point.
In recent weeks, Burgess has opted to play the young duo of Leon Hayes and Ewan Irwin with that half-back pairing starting three of the last four games. They’re set to start again this week against Catalans Dragons per Burgess, who was asked about Sneyd in his Monday presser.
“He’s had a bit of a niggle in his foot for the last month,” said in that presser, shared by BBC Radio Merseyside.
“He could still have played in the last couple of weeks and he’ll be close to the team in the next week or so.
“I’ll be Ewan (Irwin) and Leon (Hayes) again this week but we’ll see what happens over the next month, you’ll probably see him in the team at some point.”

With a gauntlet of fixtures coming up that includes in-form Catalans, Leigh at Magic Weekend, Wigan away, Hull KR at home, and Leigh away in their next five, Sneyd’s experience will certainly be needed to help out the young halves, if not on the pitch.
On his relationship with Hayes and Irwin, Burgess said: “He’s been great (with them). Without speaking for him, I think he’s got some sort of ambition to coach at some point, so he’s been great around them.
“He helps them with their kicking, game management, game understanding, so he’s good for those guys to have around.”
He added: “Ewan has spent a lot of time with him over the last 18 months. Obviously, Leon has been out injured for the majority of the last 18 months but he’s great.”
Burgess also confirmed that the 35-year-old Sneyd is still eager to play, adding: “He’s disappointed that he’s not playing, he’s not too dissimilar age to me so we can have honest conversations and he’s disappointed.
“He wants to play, he’s a competitive bloke and I understand that frustration from him. Like I say, it’s a long year and we’ll see him back in the team, there’s no doubt about that.”
