Chris Chester has named his first 21-man squad as interim head coach of Castleford Tigers. Director of rugby Chester has picked up the reins at Castleford this week after the decision was made to part ways with Danny McGuire on Monday.
Eyes will be on the Tigers this week then as they bid to respond to the sacking by picking up a win on their trip to Salford Red Devils, who remain rooted to the foot of the Super League table.
Chester has made a couple of changes to the squad with Liam Horne dropping out due to the suspension he received last week for touching an injured player in the loss to Wigan Warriors. Will Tate also misses out.
Cain Robb is brought back into the Tigers fold after making two appearances for the Red Devils on loan and he’ll be keen to catch the eye against the club he has spent the last few weeks being a part of. Jeremiah Simbiken also comes back into the squad for the Tigers.
Salford are boosted by the return of Loghan Lewis for the first time this season. The forward hasn’t played since 2024 due to injury and his energy and impact through the middle has been missed.
That comes as a big boost for Paul Rowley, who has welcomed Oliver Russell to the club from Wakefield Trinity this week. Russell is one of five loanees within the group.
Declan Murphy is a new name in the squad list with Rowley giving the youngster a shot after impressing in the reserves.
