Salford Red Devils have been in the news once again this week and the team news for when they face Castleford Tigers on Sunday evening is in.
Despite not playing a game last weekend, the Red Devils were still highly talked about after the resignation of CEO Chris Irwin, just months after he was appointed when the new owners arrived at Salford with former CEO Paul King returning.
Those new owners have now been dealt a massive blow with a HMRC winding-up petition reportedly filed and Jacobsen Management, the company associated with their backers, informed that Salford City Council have ended all negotiations with them.
In effect that puts their hopes of buying the stadium out of the window and leaves the club on even more uncertain ground, with the club statement claiming it is a decision that will “only impact negatively on the team, the stadium, the local community, and our fans, who are the lifeblood of this great club”.
As for Castleford, it’s been far quieter which might please Danny McGuire with the attention turned away from their poor performance at Magic Weekend against Wakefield Trinity.
These sides met earlier in the year with the Tigers winning 22-14 and the team news for Sunday’s game has now been confirmed.

Salford Red Devils team news
Paul Rowley spoke mid-week and confirmed that Ryan Brierley would be available after missing Magic Weekend due to UKAD being unable to approve medication in time. He also confirmed Nene Macdonald was available after returning from Australia for the birth of his child.
Both men are set to be involved against the Tigers, with Macdonald’s availability coming as a big boost for the Red Devils who have been unable to use the Papua New Guinea international due to salary cap restrictions.
Ben Hellewell drops out but Chris Hankinson will hope to play this week, too, with the Red Devils not risking him against Hull KR last time out.
Salford Red Devils 21-man squad: Ryan Brierley, Ethan Ryan, Nene Macdonald, Jayden Nikorima, Joe Shorrocks, Esan Marsters, Jack Ormondroyd, Justin Sangare, Sam Davis, Matty Foster, Chris Hankinson, Harvey Wilson, Kai Morgan, Nathan Connell, Tiaki Chan, George Hill, Jonny Vaughan, Harvey Makin, Toby Warren.
