Salford Red Devils have responded to allegations made by a former employee against the club’s current ownership.
Claire Bradbury resigned from her role as Chief Operating Officer earlier today and released a statement in which she alleged that it had been suggested to her by ‘ownership’ that she ought to sleep with those at the RFL in order to help the club’s situation.
Bradbury wrote: “Misogynistic, inappropriate language from the ownership suggesting I sleep with an individual at the RFL to ‘smooth things over’ is not acceptable.”
She went on to explain that she ‘stayed quiet’ at the time out of a hope for the club to succeed, however, decided to voice it now for “the integrity and evolution of rugby league, and for all women who work in sport”.
Following Bradbury’s statement, Serious About Rugby League reached out to the Salford club for comment and the club have now responded, confirming an international investigation will begin.
Salford Red Devils respond after staff member’s serious allegation against ‘ownership’
Salford have now released the following statement to address Bradbury’s resignation and allegations.
It reads: “It has been alleged by a former member of the Salford Red Devils staff, who departed the club on 12 August 2025, that she was subjected to inappropriate verbal conduct by the owners of the club.
“Salford Red Devils unequivocally condemns any and all forms of inappropriate language and behaviour. We treat such allegations with the utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring that our club environment remains respectful, professional, and safe for all members of staff.
“In response to these allegations, we will be conducting a thorough internal investigation. We are determined to establish the facts and take any necessary action to address the situation. We will provide a detailed report of our findings as soon as the investigation is concluded.”
It’s unclear who will conduct that investigation given that Bradbury alleged ‘ownership’ were involved.
