Salford Red Devils and Leigh Leopards stars among three banned by Super League disciplinary

The disciplinary charges from Round 15 of Super League have been handed down with a total of three players banned.

We’re getting to the stage of the season where players already have a number of penalty points on their record and with the new system, whereby points add up and equate to bans, it’s no surprise that we’re starting to see suspensions.

All six players who were charged by the Match Review Panel had previous disciplinary records this season and for three of those players, they’ve earned a ban, meaning they will miss Round 16 of Super League.

Those players are Joe Shorrocks, Alec Tuitavake and Chris Satae with each man handed a one-match ban, however, Shorrocks also cops a fine.

That’s because he previously had 10 penalty points on his record so his Grade A charge for his late shot on Aidan Sezer takes him to 11, one away from a two-match ban, meaning he now walks a disciplinary tightrope for the remainder of the season.

Super League disciplinary as three players handed bans

The other two players to be banned had less points on their record but were handed bigger charges with Alec Tuitavake handed a Grade B charge for late contact on the passer. Those three points take him to nine for the season, earning him a ban.

As for Chris Satae, he had a Grade C dangerous contact charge taking him just above the threshold for a ban but teammate Tevita Pangai Jr avoids a ban despite a Grade C head contact charge given his previous good record.

Matthieu Laguerre was the third Catalans player to be charged, landing a Grade A charge for late contact on the passer.

Jordan Crowther was also penalised for late contact, landing a Grade A charge which now takes him just two penalty points away from a ban.

Crowther had accused Taane Milne of an eye gouge but the Huddersfield man has not been cited, despite the incident being placed on report.
