Salford Red Devils and London Broncos are among the five clubs to lose the most points on their 2025 IMG grade compared to their 2024 score.
The Red Devils have lost well over one whole point and that could drop even more subject to their upcoming HMRC hearing, with Salford now confirmed not to be playing in Super League next year.
Having ranked 12th in 2024, the Red Devils have dropped to 15th on the rankings with their score decreasing from 13.97 to 12.65. It’s been confirmed that they’ve been replaced in Super League by Bradford Bulls.
As for the 13th and 14th teams in Super League 2026, they will be determined by an independent panel chaired by Lord Caine with the results revealed on Friday at 10:00 am.
London Broncos are among the sides hopeful of being selected but like Salford, they’re among the five rugby league clubs with the largest drop in score.
How every rugby league club scored as full IMG rankings revealed
Which rugby league clubs lost the most IMG points in 2025?
The Broncos have dropped from 12.65 to 11.65 but they’ve shared no explanation as to why, though we do know that they lost 0.1143 in the performance pillar.
It’s worth noting that the recent investment from Down Under that includes Darren Lockyer as a key figure is not included in their accounts, so it’s likely that their finance pillar will take a huge hike in score next year.
As well as London, the aforementioned Salford have lost over a point but the club have explained the breakdown of their scores, meaning we know where they’ve lost points.
Incredibly, their finance pillar score has actually increased but again it’s worth noting that 2025 accounts are not considered. They’ve gained 0.15 points on that metric but lost 0.25 on community, 0.02 on stadium, 0.3429 on performance and 0.625 on fandom.
Another club to have a significant drop but explain it are Barrow Raiders with the Cumbrian side losing over 1.5 points with fandom and finances being two of the key areas they dropped in. Their decline from 11.22 to 9.62 actually only saw them drop from 17th to 18th across all 35 rugby league clubs.
The two other clubs to lose the most points are Keighley Cougars and Newcastle Thunder and that’s because they have scored zero for not entering their data on time. That’s seen them both rank joint-34th as the lowest-ranked clubs with Keighley having actually scored 9.02 and ranking 19th in 2024, whereas Newcastle had scored 5.2 to rank 32nd.
Salford Red Devils – 13.97 to 12.65 (12 to 15)
LondonBroncos – 12.65 to 11.65 (14 to 16)
Barrow Raiders – 11.22 to 9.62 (17 to 18)
Keighley Cougars – 9.02 to 0 (19 to 34)
Newcastle Thunder – 5.2 to 0 (32 to 34)

…and now you know why IMG ratings won’t be used in awarding London a spot on the Super League in a “free and fair” competition. Utter joke! I look forward to hearing the excuses why a failing club with a statistical anomaly for a crowd get a place over two clubs that have invested heavily and showing tremendous improvement and have achieved success on the pitch.
