Rugby league fans debate whether Reece Walsh is currently the best player in the world following Ashes performance as Kangaroos teammate also favoured

It’s fair to say that Reece Walsh is quite good at rugby league. Following on from an incredible season Down Under with Brisbane Broncos, the full-back followed it up with a Man of the Match performance at Wembley, in what was his international debut.

The 23-year-old scored a brace in the 26-6 victory over England, as well as having his hand in a couple more and saving two tries.

The Queensland star was single-handedly the difference last Saturday, leaving rugby league fans questioning whether Walsh was currently the best player in the world at the moment.

Serious About Rugby League viewers were asked on Facebook that very question, and his efforts as a Bronco, a Maroon and a Kangaroo this year make him one of the favourites to claim that title.

However, not all were on the same page, and it caused for some healthy discussion as to who fans believe should be give that moniker.

Rugby League fans debate whether Reece Walsh is the world’s best player

Andrew Pleasants: Right now yes – it’s not just what he does, it’s when he does it. Test will be whether he can keep up something close to this form.

Andy Carrie: I say so he’s phenomenal nearly every game he plays for the Broncos. His showmanship gets a bit annoying at times. At this moment I don’t see anyone as good on a regular basis like him.

Richard Claire Atkinson: Box office he has got it all.

Mick Rynbout: By a mile.

Les Holland: I reckon the top 10 – 20 players would all be Australian, but yes he is the best atm.

Mikaere Pene:  Yes he is at the moment

David Young: He’s electrifying, much like slater, could end up better, scintillating player, love his style.

Whilst some thought that Walsh was perhaps the world’s best right now, there were some who believe that he is yet to show that class on a consistent basis.

Murray Bradley: 5 weeks of decent footy doesn’t make you the best in the world.

Matt Thompson: He has played 7 good games. Not considered enough. Keeps playing like he has over the finals, he might be.

Many fans thought that it was in fact some of Walsh’s Kangaroos team mates that deserved to be called the best in the world, having shown they can perform at the highest level over recent seasons.

Steven Paul: Best also means consistent, Nathan Cleary is by far the most consistent at being the best.

Jack Tran: Still Clearly for me just on consistency and the years he’s been doing it for… but if your looking for individual magic Walsh is up there.

Hans Vestblom: I don’t think half a good season a great finals series and one good game in the green and gold qualifies you for that title. Try leading a team to 5 straight gf and 4 straight wins then talk about it.

Jack Winters: If you got to pick from anyone from any club to start to create your team, you would be crazy not to take Cleary. That’s how you decide who is the best in the world.

Scott Hughes: Harry Grant, watch him closely, he manipulates the game like a wizard.
