Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has explained why Wakefield Trinity is the perfect club for him after agreeing to join Daryl Powell’s side from 2027.
The dual-code New Zealand international is one of the NRL’s top stars and brings to Super League a wealth of experience, talent and a presence that will bill him as one of the biggest players in the northern hemisphere.
Powell has explained how the club got the move done, and gave his verdict on what ‘RTS’ will bring to the side and the competition, but now the outside back has provided his reasons for joining the West Yorkshire outfit for next season.
Signing a two-year deal, the 32-year-old will join former NZ Warriors teammate Jazz Tevaga at the club, and after hearing his glowing report of how he has settled into life as a Wakefield player, Tuivasa-Sheck believes that Trinity is the best place to continue his rugby league journey.
Speaking to The Bench Podcast with Jenna Brooks, the former All Black revealed: “At this stage of my career, I thought you know what this might be the time to go.
“My family is in a good place and let’s go finish on a high by seeing the world, playing for a new club and seeing what could happen.”
Explaining why he chose Wakefield in particular, he said: “I like an underdog story and these guys are not part of the top four but they’re heading in the right direction.
“They’re trending well since the new owner Matt (Ellis) took over and I’ve enjoyed watching them from afar.
“I’m pumped to be joining Super League and Trin.”
