Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has spoken for the first time as a Wakefield Trinity player with the dual-code international’s signing now confirmed for 2027.
It is certainly one of the most extraordinary signings made in the 30 years of Super League with the deal being announced just two days before Super League’s 30th birthday.
During those three decades, there perhaps has not been a single player with more talent than a prime Tuivasa-Sheck grace Super League, making Wakefield Trinity’s signing of the 32-year-old all the more incredible.
The dual-code international signs a two-year deal with Trinity who are showing some serious intent by making the splash to bring the former Dally M medalist to Wakefield.
That’s just one of many accolades that the 32-year-old has on his resume with Tuivasa-Sheck also the 2019 Golden Boot winner whilst also being capped by the All Blacks in rugby union. His return to rugby league saw an allegiance change to the country of his birth, Samoa, where he plays alongside Trinity’s Jazz Tevaga.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck reacts to Wakefield Trinity move
Speaking on his move to Wakefield, Tuivasa-Sheck said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to join Wakefield and compete in the Super League. My family & I are really excited for the move and new challenge.
“From the conversations I’ve had, I can see the club is heading in a really positive direction and I’m looking forward to being part of that journey.”
The club’s Director of Rugby, Ste Mills, added: “Bringing someone like Roger to Wakefield is a huge shift in the landscape of Super League. We believe he is one of the final pieces to our puzzle and someone of his calibre and experience will only help propel the club towards silverware.
“We’ve worked tirelessly since the opportunity arose and we can not be happier to have Roger as part of the club for the next couple of seasons.”
Head coach Daryl Powell also gave his verdict, stating: “We are delighted to bring Roger to Wakefield. We are obviously an ambitious Club and signing Roger shows that once again.
“He’s a super high-quality signing for both the super league competition and of course for Wakefield Trinity and we look forward to welcoming him into our family and helping us achieve our ambitions in the near future.”
