Featherstone Rovers have officially entered administration, with the club confirming that in a statement today.
The club announced last week that they would be applying to enter that state, with the club’s overarching financial difficulties being too much to bear.
The Rovers, who are currently run by Chairman Mark Campbell and CEO Chris Hamilton, were initially served a winding-up petition, but the pair decided to apply for administration as a way of trying to keep the club alive.
In the statement, released on Monday, the club have been granted their wish, and will now be under the control of administrator Andrew Rosler, who himself has ties to rugby league.
Rosler is a former director and board member at Salford Red Devils, but resigned as director in December 2018, per companies house, However, his LinkedIn showed he remained involved until December 2024. He will oversee proceedings as he tries to sell the club’s assets in order to recover the large amount of debt they find themselves in.
Featherstone have also released new information on anyone wishing to buy the club, with a “very tight” deadline, with interested parties having until Friday 19th December at 4pm to submit a bid.
The club’s future in the Championship is also still up in the air, and with the 2026 season starting in mid-January, any potential new owners will have just under a month to get things in order, including players, staff, kit, sponsors and everything else that comes with running a rugby league club.
The RFL confirmed earlier today that the board would be meeting in due course to “consider all options” over Featherstone’s future.
“Further to previous announcements it is confirmed that following an application to court Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Limited has today 15th December 2025 been placed into Administration. The Court at the same time dismissed the Winding Up Petition.”
“Andrew Rosler, Insolvency Practitioner of Ideal Corporate Solutions Limited, has been appointed Administrator and who will manage the business, affairs and assets of the Company.”
“One of the principle aims is to safeguard the future of the Club and ensure that it can compete in the Championship in the forthcoming season.”
“Given the proximity of the new season, The Rugby Football League (RFL) have set a very tight timescale for all interested parties in acquiring the Club (and to gain membership of the RFL) to deliver their initial submissions by 4pm on Friday 19th December 2025.”
“The RFL will then undertake a period of assessment and decision making.”
“The Administrator requests that all such interested parties make contact immediately by email to help@idealcs.co.uk”
