RFL release upper tier tickets for Ashes series opener at Wembley Stadium

Ashes series opener releases new upper tier seats at Wembley

With two sold-out tests for the Ashes series already, the RFL has announced that tickets for Wembley Stadium’s upper tier have been released today (Sunday 8th June).

The autumn Ashes series will head to Wembley on 25th October for game one of a three-match series between England and Australia.

It’s the first time the Ashes will be held in England since 2003, with fans flocking to book tickets well in advance for some competitive rugby for England ahead of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.

Game two at Everton’s new ground, Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the third test at AMT Headingley sold out weeks ago.

With Wembley the largest capacity, it’s set for a bumper crowd, with demand for tickets increasing following yesterday’s Challenge Cup Finals day.

The North Stand will even have some tickets available at a new category price of £20 for adults and £10 for Under-16s, making a trip to Wembley much more affordable for many fans travelling from the north.

The RFL is hoping to capitalise on the second-highest Cup final attendance since 2017 in a push to attempt to sell out Wembley ahead of the Ashes series later on in the year.

Joe Steel, RL Commercial’s Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “This is another landmark moment in the build-up to this autumn’s long-awaited return of Ashes Rugby League.

“With the Second and Third Tests already sold out, we expect demand to witness the First Test at Wembley Stadium to continue to build through the summer.

“We’re delighted to have opened the upper tier with some great value tickets, providing more fans with more opportunities to watch world-class Rugby League at the National Stadium.

“Following a fantastic Challenge Cup Finals Day, we’re excited to be returning to Wembley in the coming months for what promises to be another special occasion in 2025.”
