The latest RFL Complicate Update has confirmed fines for a Leigh Leopards coach whilst a former Warrington Wolves man was also charged.
All players and staff agree to comply with the RFL rules and the governing body reviews incidents with updates provided throughout the year.
Previous such updates in 2025 confirmed that Matt Peet was hit with a fine and a suspended two-match touchline ban for entering the referees room without invitation, thereby “breaching operational rules”. Meanwhile, Ian Blease was also charged for ‘engaging the referees’ with both a fine and a suspended touchline ban handed down.
Now, former Wigan Warriors man and current Leigh Leopards assistant coach Tony Clubb is among the latest to be fined with the RFL handing down a £1,000 fine, £750 of which is suspended until the end of the 2026 season.
Clubb was sanctioned for “using foul and abusive language towards Match Officials” in the club”s Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Wakefield Trinity. Like Peet was, he is also handed a two-match touchline ban, also suspended until the end of 2026.
Former Warrington Wolves forward set to face RFL disciplinary
Workington Town head coach Jonty Gorley was another handed a £1,000 fine and a suspended tw0-match touchline ban for his conduct towards opposition medical staff. Half of his fine is suspended until the end of 2026 with that incident dating back to March 9th.
The third person to be hit with the RFL sanctions is former Warrington Wolves forward Zane Musgrove, who now plays for Oldham.
The Roughyeds announced that Musgrove had been charged by the RFL but that charge relates to actions whilst playing for Warrington, relating to an incident in their Challenge Cup semi-final win against Leigh Leopards.
Per the RFL statement: “Zane Musgrove, now of Oldham, has been charged with using Unacceptable Language after the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi Final on May 11, when he was playing for Warrington Wolves. ”
It’s since been confirmed to Serious About Rugby League that Musgrove will attend an Operational Rules Tribunal at a later date, yet to be determined, to face that charge.
