A former Leeds Rhinos youngster has confirmed his next destination following his release from Headingley.
Noah Whittingham was a member of Leeds’ reserve grade squad, who lifted the Grand Final in September, but he has seen his contract come to an end, and has since the Blue and Amber.
However, his pursuit for Super League rugby is far from over, after he confirmed he has already got another offer lined up, and will be staying in the top flight.
The youngster, who’s primary position is the back row, announced himself on TikTok that he has signed for York Knights, following their promotion to Super League next year.
In a video with former Leeds player Jack Walker, where the two were discussing plans after rugby and how they see their post-league careers going, Whittingham let slip about his new club, where he has signed a one-year contract.
He has been in the Rhinos set-up for a few years, and signed his first professional contract in 2023, alongside 14 other players in a club record intake.
Playing his junior rugby at Castleford Lock Lane, he showed promise in the youth ranks, but Leeds currently have a number of back rowers ahead of him, including Zak Lloyd and Jacob Stead. The club have also brought in Ethan O’Neill on a three-year deal from Leigh Leopards, meaning his chances at progressing into the Rhinos first team would have been minimal.
In the same video, Walker also talked about his future plans, and revealed once again his desire to be a Super League player once again, after failing to nail down a club since exit from the Rhinos in 2022.
The full-back gave an exclusive interview with Serious About Rugby League on the matter, as he revealed that he still doesn’t know what is happening with his Salford Red Devils contract due to their impending HMRC hearing.
