Catalans Dragons’ greatest ever tryscorer Fouad Yaha has signed for Super XIII side Albi ahead of the new French season.
Yaha, who scored 108 tries in the colours of Catalans, was released by the Dragons at the end of the Super League season. It was a decision that brought an end to an 11-year stint at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, with Yaha making 177 appearances in that time.
Just 28 of those outings have come over the last three seasons, though, with Yaha playing more of a bit part role since his most prolific season in 2022, in which he scored 24 tries in 25 games.
And, the 29-year-old has been allowed to move on to pastures new, with the club announcing last month that he would be one of 13 players to leave Perpignan at the end of the season.
The Frenchman played his last game for the Dragons last Thursday at Hull FC and he has wasted no time in finding a new club, with Albi announcing his signing.
Ex-Catalans Dragons man joins Albi
Albi won the Super XIII last season, beating Carcassonne in the Grand Final back in May and they’ll hope the addition of Yaha will help them kick on as they go in search of a seventh league crown.
The Tigers get their season underway this weekend against Limoux Grizzlies, who Albi beat in last year’s semi-finals, but it remains to be seen if Yaha will make his debut for the club, having just finished the Super League campaign.
Albi boasted a number of former Catalans Dragons players in their squad last season with Mickael Goudemand and Tony Gigot being the most notable. Super League fans will recognise the names of Romain Franco, Maxime Puech and Corentin Le Cam.
