Rugby League player found safe after wife’s Facebook appeal with update provided

Championship player Brandon Moore reported missing

A rugby league player who was reported missing has been found safe thanks to social media with an update now issued.

Batley Bulldogs man Brandon Moore was reported missing by his wife on Saturday with a Facebook appeal to find the 28-year-old launched.

The rugby league family responded as expected with Mara Moore’s post shared well over 2,000 times before eventually being deleted, with Mrs Moore able to provide the positive update that Brandon had been found safe and sound.

Moore had been named in Batley’s 21-man squad to face Toulouse but was not in the matchday squad for Saturday’s 3:00 pm kick-off.

His wife had taken to social media to announce that he had been missing for approximately 14 hours as she launched an appeal to try and find him.

Thankfully, she was able to provide an update at 21:35 on Saturday night to confirm that Brandon had been found and was in “safe hands”.

Taking to Facebook once again, Mara Moore shared: “Brandon Moore is finally safe and found by dad and friends.

“Deleted my status as he’s in safe hands and don’t want anyone else worrying and sharing.

“Thank you to everyone that shared, we actually found him through the power of Facebook which is crazy. Otherwise we wouldn’t have found him. So thank you to everyone that’s helped me!!”

The former Huddersfield Giants hooker was also confirmed safe by his current club Batley Bulldogs who provided an update via X.

They posted: “Brandon is safe. He is a huge part of our group and loved by all. We will support him in any way we can.”

It’s a positive end to a very concerning story and one that owes thanks to the thousands of rugby league supporters who helped raise awareness in the search for Brandon.
