It has been a busy 24 hours with major stories breaking from Super League and the NRL.

Here is a round-up of everything that has happened…

Maloney tests for banned substance

Reports in France have suggested that former Catalans Dragons star James Maloney has tested for a banned substance.

The stand-off hasn’t played since March 19th and was believed to be injured but a report from L’Independent has said that he has been banned after testing positive for a banned substance. Read more here.

Pitch invader madness

Pitch invaders caused madness in the NRL this weekend.

The Daily Mail has done a piece on the two pitch invaders during Cronulla vs Wests as well as the woman who invaded the field during Gold Coast Parramatta who was hit by a huge tackle from a security guard.

Morgan Knowles thanks fans

St Helens loose-forward Morgan Knowles has thanked the St Helens fans after their superb win over Catalans in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals. The Saints are looking to retain the trophy they won in 2021 as they chase the treble.

Knowles was the Man of the Match and spoke about the impact of the fans on the win in an interview with Saints TV.

Watson backs Huddersfield stars for call-ups

Ian Watson has backed the likes of Chris Hill and Joe Greenwood to push for Shaun Wane’s England squad based on their recent form.

He said after their Challenge Cup win over Hull FC that ultimately it was up to Wane but the likes of Hill and Greenwood had to be in contention based on form. Read more here.

Woolf’s admission

Kristian Woolf has claimed that St Helens can still improve despite an imperious performance against title rivals Catalans on Saturday.

Liverpool World reported that Woolf believes “there’s a lot more” to come from the Saints as they pursue all three trophies in 2022.

Super League stars feature in reserves fixtures

Morgan Escare and Jack Ashworth figured as Huddersfield’s reserves played Salford’s.

Meanwhile on Friday night Brad Takairangi, Korbin Sims and Ben Crooks played for Hull KR’s reserves as they lost to Leeds.

Challenge Cup semi-final draw

St Helens and Wigan will meet in the Challenge Cup semi-finals in a huge derby at Elland Road.

Huddersfield and Hull KR will contest the other in an exciting triple header alongside the women’s final.

Cornwall’s home debut

Cornwall’s home debut didn’t end in the result they’d have wanted.

They lost 60-14 to Midlands Hurricanes.

The story behind Leeds Rhinos PDRL star

Leeds Live have told the story of Leeds’ Simon Brown.

The army veteran plays for the club’s PDRL side and lost an eye to a sniper shot.

Minchella future update and England aspirations

Elliot Minchella has spoken to the Hull Daily Mail about his future aspirations and his hopes of following teammate Jordan Abdull into the England set up.

Minchella scored twice as Hull KR defeated Castleford in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals this weekend.

NRL prop offered to Super League clubs

The Examine Live has revealed that an NRL prop has been offered to Super League clubs.

Rhys Kennedy is the man in question and plays for Brisbane Broncos.

Salford line up Championship forward

Former Leeds Rhinos academy player Tyler Dupree has impressed in the lower leagues over the last 12 months and is currently at Widnes Vikings.

But the Examiner Live has revealed that Salford Red Devils are lining up a move for the young forward.

A marathon has been announced in the name of Rob Burrow.

That’s according to the Yorkshire Post who confirmed the marathon yesterday to help raise awareness of MND.
