Round two of the Betfred Championship is complete, and pre-season favourites London Broncos are one of five teams that remains undefeated.
The Broncos welcomed another heavyweight, Oldham RLFC to the Cherry Red Records on Sunday, in a game that was streamed live on the club’s YouTube Channel.
The club in the capital were 25-8 victors, as PNG recruit Alex Max crossed for his seventh try in three London games, whilst star recruit Reagan Campbell-Gillard also crossed.
Finlay Glare, Robert Mathias and Liam Tindall rounded off the scoring for Jason Demetriou’s side.
Oldham, who’s Director of Rugby, Mike Ford confirmed he could be leaving the club less than an hour after the full-time whistle, scored through new recruit Cole Geyer, whilst Kieran Dixon added two conversions.
Elsewhere, the round kicked off in Cumbria on Saturday, when Barrow Raiders hosted Salford RLFC. It would be another defeat for the newly-formed phoenix club, as the Raiders claimed a 38-4 win.
Dewsbury Rams kept their winning streak going, as a late penalty goal from Jacob Hookem stole a 22-20 win over Keighley Cougars.
Rochdale Hornets were another that took home the two points. They defeared Workington Town 20-14 in a win that included two tries from former Leigh man TJ Boyd.
It was a weekend for close fixtures, as Goole Vikings’ Shane Tuohey scored a last-gasp try to give his side the victory over Swinton Lions. Scott Taylor’s side won 28-24.
There were also victories for Midlands Hurricanes, who delivered a surprise win over Doncaster, whilst Halifax Panthers defeated Batley Bulldogs 28-10.
Widnes Vikings, who play Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup live on the Sportsman, go into that game full of confidence after another strong performance over North Wales Crusaders.
Two tries from new loanee Jumah Sambou helped the former Super League side to the victory.
Finally, it was a huge win for Newcastle Thunder, who emerged as 54-6 victors over Whitehaven. York Knights players Jordan Lipp, Ryan Jackson and Matty Foster all featured in the heavy win.
