In a devastating blow on the eve of the Super League season, Catalans Dragons have seen a star overseas signing ruled out for all of the 2026 campaign.
Les Dracs have undergone a very heavy recruitment period but they’ve changed tact with the club identifying players who were far younger and, in their opinion, ready to develop into Super League stars.
One of those was winger Manase Kaho, who the French club signed from Queensland Cup side Norths Devils, but Catalans have now shared a devastating injury update.
Kaho has been ruled out for the entire 2026 season with the winger set to undergo surgery on a torn ACL following an injury he sustained in the club’s pre-season friendly against Toulouse Olympique.
It’s the second year in a row that a star outside back signing has suffered an ACL injury on the eve of the Super League season, with Leeds Rhinos’ Maika Sivo rupturing his ACL against Bradford Bulls last January.
Worringly for Kaho and Catalans, Sivo still has not made his playing return and hasn’t been named to the Rhinos’ squad to take on Leigh Leopards this Friday.

Catalans Dragons confirm winger’s injury on eve of Super League season
A statement from Catalans confirmed the news of Kaho’s devastating injury with the club now already down one of their top signings. Former Castleford Tigers’ man Josh Simm could be the man to step into the void with Simm playing on the wing in the Dragons’ Challenge Cup win over Batley Bulldogs. He’s expected to line up this Friday against Huddersfield Giants.
Confirming Kaho’s injury, Catalans announced: “Manase Kaho underwent scans to determine the extent of his injury after leaving the field injured in the friendly game against Toulouse.
“The new recruit was reviewed by the specialist and is due to have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
“He has been ruled out for the rest of the 2026 Betfred Super League season.”
Kaho had scored 44 tries in just 53 games whilst playing in the Queensland Cup the past three years.
