An NRL hooker who played for Tonga in the series against England in 2023 has confirmed the prospect of a move to Super League.
The experienced Siliva Havili, who plays for South Sydney Rabbitohs, is out of contract at the end of the year and he’s confirmed his intent to play on, whilst revealing that could even be in England.
Havili has played almost every week for the Bunnies in 2025, often coming off the bench but also having a spell as the team’s starting nine.
He started all three of Tonga’s end of season internationals against England in 2023 and once again featured for the national team at the end of last year, playing in the dramatic 25-24 win over New Zealand.
Without a deal at Souths for 2026, Havili has confirmed to media in Australia that he has a ‘lot of footy’ left in his legs and that could even see him head to Super League.
Siliva Havili weighing up NRL future
It was reported earlier this year by All Out Rugby League that Havili would be an option for Super League clubs and he’s now confirmed as such to Australian media.
“That’s definitely an option (to go to England). I’ve got options to play here too,” he said, per the AAP.
“I still think I’ve got a lot of footy in me.”
He’s already played over 150 NRL games and has almost 20 on the international stage, however, the New Zealand-born forward could take his career to England.
That’s also been boosted by the fact that Super League clubs can now roster ten overseas players and by the fact that two extra clubs will compete in 2026, opening up an opportunity for up to 56 more overseas players.
On his future, Havili said: “I’m just happy to explore my options. I’ve got a young family to look after. I’m open to every option and everything out there.”
