According to the latest reports, there has been a further development in the possible player swap between Hull FC and Catalans Dragons, whilst an NRL centre has also hit the market for Super League clubs.
It was reported in July that Hull FC and Catalans Dragons were considering a possible player swap with ex-Black and Whites boss John Cartwright keen to bring Amir Bourouh to Perpignan, however, FC wanted centre Solomona Faataape in return.
Andy Last explained that he’d had no conversations regarding that but John Cartwright did announce his interest in Bourouh, though he admitted that a centre for a hooker wasn’t necessarily a straightforward swap.
Despite that, the latest report from Sky Sports’ Meg Wellens is that both players are keen on the move so it could come down to the club’s working out a suitable compensation deal to facilitate that.
Hull FC are keen to sign a centre with Serious About Rugby League understanding that 2026 signing Arthur Romano has not settled as well as had been hoped, something that has not been helped by the Frenchman’s injury issues this season.
Faataape would be a strike centre signing for the Black and Whites, who also have Davy Litten tied to a long-term deal as well.
Another centre who could be on the radar of Super League clubs is Manly’s Aaron Schoupp, whose availability was also reported by Sky ahead of the clash between Leigh Leopards and Wigan Warriors.
Schoupp, 25, has 58 NRL appearances to his name and he’s scored a dozen tries during that time, however, he has played just six NRL games in the past three years at Manly, with only one of those coming in 2026.
Instead, Schoupp has been playing in the reserve grade where he has four tries in nine games this season though he has primarily played in the second-row, with that versatility a desirable trait for teams across Super League.
