Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has provided an injury update on full-back Bailey Hodgson following his worrying knee injury in the loss to Wigan Warriors.
Hodgson was one of three Leigh players who didn’t finish the game in the heavy defeat to Wigan Warriors with the Leopards’ full-back going down late on holding his knee.
The understandable and immediate concerns focused on if Hodgson had been the latest to suffer an ACL injury, with Castleford’s Blake Taaffe and Hull FC’s Will Pryce suffering that fate in round one and round two.
Hodgson had ascended to the role of starting full-back after overseas signing David Armstrong suffered an ACL injury last year and Adrian Lam has now confirmed that the injury is not as bad as first feared, and is instead a PCL injury rather than an ACL injury.
Even so, Leigh will be without the full-back for the next eight weeks, as Lam explained: “There’s some positive news which we’re very grateful for and whilst it’s still long-term, it’s not as bad as first thought.
“He’s got a grade two tear on his PCL so that will be up to eight weeks out plus, so we’re looking at two months for that.
“He’s in good spirits, he’s in a good place, he’s out working as we speak and ripping in.”
Hodgson had been deputising for David Armstrong, who Lam confirmed could be back in the next four weeks after rehabbing his own ACL injury that he had suffered in 2025.
