Matt Dufty has taken no time at all to find a new club following his exit from Warrington Wolves.
The full-back was released a fortnight ago, as he departed Sam Burgess’ side to return to Australia via a mutual agreement.
He left the Halliwell Jones Stadium after scoring 47 tries in 88 games for the club, highlighting his ability on the pitch, but especially over 2025, him and the club didn’t see eye-to-eye, and that is what ultimately led to his departure.
In what is somewhat of a shock, Dufty has been handed a lifeline at one of Australia’s biggest clubs, and will have a strong hope of playing in the NRL again at some point.
That is because he has signed for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, with one of the club’s top dogs confirming his arrival.
Speaking to Nine’s Wide World of Sports, Bunnies Chief Executive Blake Solly revealed that the 30-year-old had signed, but it would initially be a contract for the reserve grade team.
“It’s a NSW Cup contract – not top 30 or development list,” Solly confirmed.
Regardless, the move marks a new chapter in the Aussie’s career, and should he go on to impress, will be pushing for a place in the NRL side later down the line.
He last played in the competition in May 2022, and has 94 NRL appearances to his name.
