There has been some huge news to come out of Warrington Wolves, with an incoming signing informing the club he will not be joining them ahead of 2026. Not only that, there has also been official confirmation on six players in regards to their immediate futures.
The first piece of breaking news to come out of the club stated that incoming Catalans Dragons recruit, Tevita Pangai Jr, will not be joining Sam Burgess’ squad next year.
The Tongan international signed a one-year contract at the Halliwell Jones Stadium following his Perpignan exit, however that move will no longer go ahead. A club statement posted on the Wolves website read:
“Tevita Pangai Jr has recently informed the Club of his decision not to join for the 2026 season.”
“While we are disappointed, the Club accepts his decision, as we remain committed to building a squad of players who are fully invested in the Club and its ambitions.”
“We wish Tevita the very best in his future endeavours.”

Following their double signing of released Leeds Rhinos man James Bentley and Queensland Cup star Josh Smith, Wire have also announced the contract decisions for six of their players, with five extending their current deals and one player exiting the club.
Salford Red Devils back-rower Sam Stone has made his loan move permanent, after signing a two-year deal to keep him at the club until the end of 2027.
Young winger Jake Thewlis, the younger brother of fellow Wolves player Josh, has also signed for another two seasons, and will be hoping to build on what has been a breakout year for the 20-year old. Utility forward Jordy Crowther will enter his fourth and fifth season in Primrose and Blue, after signing a contract of the same length.
Centre Toby King has agreed terms for another 12 months, as has hooker Sam Powell. The pair were reported to have secured their futures earlier in the year, but only now have the club confirmed that they will stay with the club for another year.
Finally, Warrington announced that Papua New Guinean centre Rodrick Tai will leave the club after two seasons. The 26-year-old made 41 appearances under Sam Burgess, scoring 13 tries.
