Leigh Leopards continued their good form as they drew level on points with opponents Warrington Wolves after beating them handily at the Leigh Sports Village.
The Leopards ran out as 28-12 winners as they beat an ill-disciplined Warrington side with Lachlan Lam running the show as he scored one and assisted another.
Wire were without Cai Taylor-Wray once again and it was Leigh’s full-back who opened the scoring as David Armstrong scored after Lachlan Lam brilliantly took on the line. Lam then turned scorer before Toff Sipley offered Wire some hope, however, a try on the hooter for Innes Senior hurt Warrington.
Sin bins were exchanged by both sides but Leigh held their nerve with Joe Ofahengaue and Umyla Hanley scoring before a late Albert Hopoate try, though it was too little, too late by then.
Leigh move level on points with Wire now and sit two points safe inside the top six and here are all the talking points.

Leigh march on but suffer more injuries
The Leopards are surely among the best teams in Super League at the moment with Adrian Lam’s side now winning 11 of their last 13 games, losing only to Hull KR on two occasions.
That form has shot them up the table and they are now two points safe inside the top six and level on points with Wire, however, their injury issues continue to mount.
They welcomed back Joe Ofahengaue today but lost Edwin Ipape to a HIA and Frankie Halton to a concerning injury in the first half, whilst Davy Armstrong and Josh Charnley were both limping late in the match with the Leopards hopeful that’s not anything too serious.
Whilst they look to be locked in for the play-offs now given their form and the lack of form of those below them, how much longer they can sustain this effort is unclear.
Lachlan Lam superstar
All the talk on Friday night was about Bevan French and rightly so given his stunning return, however, Lachlan Lam has to be in the conversation for the very best in Super League.
That’s not to compare him to French, who is frankly in a league of his own, but the stats back up just how good Lam has been since Leigh’s return to Super League.
He has missed just two of 119 games since 2023 and had a whopping 124 try contributions in just 104 Super League games, including a try and an assist today.
Only Mikey Lewis (153) and Bevan French (128) have more try contributions in that same period, highlighting Lam as one of the very elite and today proved that.
Second-half sin bins
The game looked like it could turn when Josh Charnley was perhaps controversially sent to the sin bin in the 48th minute, adjudged to have landed a high shot on Toby King.
No penalty was given on field but King stayed down and the medics then came on and seemingly indicated that the centre needed a head injury assessment, however, after a video review saw Charnley sent to the bin, King had seemingly recovered and was fine to play on.
It seemed as if momentum would swing to Warrington but Leon Hayes’ sin bin just minutes later burst that with Leigh then punishing Wire as they opened up a lead.
Warrington ill-discipline
That tackle by Hayes ultimately proved the moment that it started to unravel for Wire and it unravelled quickly.
Penalty after penalty saw Leigh gain easy territory and Warrington squander any attacking chances they have and that frustration boiled over on multiple occasions, including after Joe Ofahengaue’s try.
Wire were outplayed by Leigh but they still found themselves in the game yet their ill-discipline cost them and that’s what will hurt Sam Burgess the most.
