Huddersfield Giants have moved to tie down Joe Greenwood beyond the end of the current Super League season. Greenwood has penned a new two-year deal with the Giants to ensure he will be with the West Yorkshire club until the end of the 2027 campaign.
The versatile forward has played a key role for the Giants under Luke Robinson this season, starring in the back-row and getting himself over for four tries. This has been Greenwood’s fifth campaign at the Accu Stadium, having joined the club from Wigan Warriors ahead of the 2021 Super League season.
In that time he has made 96 appearances and while this season has been a difficult one in terms of results, he’s keen to stick around and help Robinson’s side make strides towards improvement next year.

“I’m glad I’ve got another two years here, I’m settled really well,” Greenwood told the club website. “I’ve been here a few years now so I’m glad it’s over the line and now I can concentrate on the back end of this year now.”
“My intentions were always to stay here and I’ve had a good sit down with Robbo and Andy Kelly and got the deal done.”
On securing the services of the 32-year-old, director of rugby Andy Kelly commented: “This is a key piece of business for us, we wanted to keep Joe after the performances he’s put in this year, he’s really made that back-row spot his own and we’re looking forward to him continuing this for the coming seasons.”
With Greenwood’s future secure, Huddersfield can turn their attention to making decisions on the futures of Jake Bibby, Jack Bibby, Connor Carr, Leroy Cudjoe and Aidan McGowan, who are all off contract.
