PNG star scores four tries in London Broncos win and ex-Hull FC man scores five on debut

The 2026 Championship campaign is proving very unpredictable, as the merged second tier format continues to spring up some shock results.

Only two teams remain unbeaten at this stage, though there are some clubs who have played four times, whilst others, only twice.

London Broncos lead the way at the top. Jason Demetriou’s side made it three wins from three after thumping Swinton Lions 84-6.

Nine different players got on the score sheet, including Morea Morea who scored four. There was also try doubles for Finley Glare, Liam Tindall and Brandon Webster-Mansfield.

Barrow Raiders suffered their first defeat of the season, as they went down 22-6 to Sheffield Eagles. It was only the Eagles’ second league game of 2026, but they managed to secure the win on home turf.

Widnes Vikings achieved an away victory over Oldham. The Vikings crossed twice through Ryan Ince, whilst Matty Fleming also scored to give the former Super League side an 18-12 win.

Goole Vikings are preparing for a huge Challenge Cup tie against Warrington Wolves in March, and this week recorded another victory, as they toppled Dewsbury Rams. The game saw former Super League prop Liam Watts crossed for his first Goole try.

Midlands Hurricanes are one of the six teams to be joint top of the table, as they sit on six points. They defeated Batley Bulldogs at Avery Fields on Sunday, with Matty Chrimes crossing twice in the win.

Keighley Cougars looked strong in their victory over Whitehaven. Ian Hardman’s side scored 10 tries to defeat the Cumbrian side 56-14, with two of those going to Jamaican international Izaac Farrell.

Newcastle Thunder fell to defeat against North Wales Crusaders. Two tries from ex-Super League winger Patrick Ah Van helped the Welsh outfit to the victory, as they secured a 30-20 win.

Lastly, Hunslet RLFC made some loan signings in mid-week, and boy did they pay off!

Ex-Hull FC man Bureta Faraimo and Isaac Misky both joined from Doncaster, with Faraimo crossing for five tries on debut, whilst Misky also crossed for a score.

The Parksiders defeated Rochdale Hornets 42-6 at the Crown Oil Arena.
