London Broncos secure PNG broadcast deal but confirm major injury blow

London Broncos have shared mixed news with a fresh injury update as well as confirmation of a new TV deal in Papua New Guinea.

Whilst the injury update offered some positive news with captain Reagan Campbell-Gillard returning to the squad this week, a lengthy lay-off was confirmed for one of the club’s standout stars.

Also announced by the Broncos was the fact that they have secured a 2026 broadcast deal to air all of their remaining home games in Papua New Guinea, where a number of the club’s star players hail from.

It’s another sign of the club’s excellent network of connections off the field with the Broncos able to attract a major broadcaster despite playing in the Championship. They’ve confirmed that PNG NBC will air their games with all fixtures shown live on NBC Channel 1 in Papua New Guinea.

Broncos co-owner Grant Wechsel called it an ‘exciting partnership for London Broncos’, adding: “Papua New Guinea and the Pacific have a deep passion for rugby league, and we are proud to strengthen our connection with fans in the region through this agreement with PNG NBC.”

London Broncos air injury update

The club were also able to share an injury update and many of the Broncos’ PNG contingent were listed with the major news being that standout hooker Finley Glare will miss the next three months after sustaining ligament tears.

Fellow PNG spine star Morea Morea is carrying a hip flexor but is expected to return in a few weeks, whilst Londoner Sadiq Adebiyi has sustained a hamstring injury that will rule him out for around six weeks.

Captain Reagan Campbell-Gillard was said to expect a return in the next couple of weeks, though he has been named in the squad to face Salford whilst fellow former NRL man Dean Hawkins (calf) had the same timeline set.

Alex Max, who went off injured in the Challenge Cup loss to Bradford Bulls, is still recovering from a chest injury and could return in three to four weeks.
