London Broncos announce latest overseas recruit as seventh Papua New Guinea star joins

London Broncos

London Broncos have once again headed to Papua New Guinea to pick up recruits ahead of their 2026 season, and have announced that a seventh Kumul will be joining the club.

Centre Alex Max, who is another player to come from the PNG Hunters, will make the move over to England next year, signing a one-year deal for Jason Demetriou’s side.

Max joins Morea Morea, Finley Glare, Gairo Voro, Epel Kapinias, Robert Mathias and Jeremiah Simbiken at the club, following their takeover by Darren Lockyer and Grant Wechsel earlier this year.

London, who are now the primary tenants of the Hazelwood training facility previously used by rugby union side London Irish, are establishing themselves on and off the field, with this level of signing another that highlights their commitment to be a Super League team in 2027.

The two-time Kumul’s primary position is at centre, and after signing Mathias and reportedly bringing in Nene MacDonald, they are certainly stacked in that position.

Max has played for the Hunters 38 times in the last two seasons, scoring 22 tries.

Max’s addition now means that the club have 28 players on their books for next season, as they look to earn promotion to the top flight following their rejected bid earlier this year.

NRL stars and London academy graduates mix to make a well-balanced squad for the Championship campaign, and Max’s inclusion only bolsters their roster, and will be another PNG player looking to prove themselves before the Papua New Guinea-based Chiefs side join the NRL in 2028.

London Broncos 2026 squad in full: Alex Max, Alex Walker, Ben Hursey-Hord, Bobby Hartley, Connor O’Bierne, Dean Hawkins, Elliott Wallis, Emarly Bitungane, Epel Kapinias, Finley Glare, Gairo Voro, Jack Croft, Jake Ramsden, James Meadows, Jeremiah Simbiken, Lewis Bienek, Liam Tindall, Luke Smith, Marcus Stock, Morea Morea, Neil Tchamambe, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Robert Mathias, Sadiq Adebiyi, Sam Davis, Siliva Havili, Ted Davidson, Will Lovell

Sorry – but this is not a team to represent London.
It is the Papua New Guinea train-on squad & not a team growing or maintaining growth in the capital. Are we being fed more “Salford Red Devils type” crap?

Rubbish! The owners have invested financially so much into LONDON BRONCOS quite a few players have joined for one season only as they will later join a New NRL Club. All that matters is rightly getting the promotion they deserve, even someone major in the RFL agrees it was a mistake for them Not to be promoted for 2026!

Lets see how the promoted clubs Go! one could quickly return to the Championship!
