Lachlan Lam future update as Leigh Leopards boss reveals ‘heavy’ interest from Super League rivals

Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has declared star player Lachlan Lam “won’t be going anywhere” in a huge boost for the club.

Off-contract star Lachlan leads Super League for assists with 19 so far in 2025 and head coach and father Adrian Lam is well aware of how important the playmaker is.

Speaking about his performances to date, Adrian claimed that there is more to come before seeming to confirm that Lachlan Lam will be remaining with Leigh in 2026.

“I think Lockie probably has two or three gears to go left in this second half of the season, so I’m pretty excited about that,” explained Lam, before answering questions on the playmaker’s future.

Asked if talks remain ongoing in terms of a new deal for his son for the 2026 season and onwards, Lam was blunt in his statement.

“He won’t be going anywhere,” the head coach declared.

We’re very happy with what he’s doing. I know one of the other clubs have come in heavy for him and that’s what happens but we’re pretty comfy where we’re at the moment.

“Like I said, looking forward to this second half of the season and him playing his best rugby.”

Whilst it’s far from an official confirmation of a new contract, it’s a massive boost for the Leopards with Lachlan Lam among their most influential players.

The mention that other Super League clubs had ‘come in heavy’ for Lam also highlights the fight Leigh are having to keep him, however, his father’s comments would suggest it’s a fight that they will win.

Leigh also have Ben McNamara and Gaz O’Brien off-contract meaning some big decisions have to be made in reference to their halves for the 2026 campaign, but none would be more important to the Leopards’ success than tying down Lachlan Lam.
