Leigh Leopards have confirmed two more injuries, including a possible season-ender, as Adrian Lam shared an update on his squad’s fitness.
Heading into Saturday’s Challenge Cup game with only 19 players, the Leopards lost two players to long-term injuries. Meanwhile forward Owen Trout is also only 50/50 for Friday night’s away trip to face Wakefield.
“I only had 19 to pick from last week and it’s a little bit less now,” Adrian Lam joked when opening up his presser, shared by the club on the Leigh Leopards’ YouTube channel.
Keanan Brand and Andy Badrock were the main concerns from Saturday’s win over Hull FC and whilst Leigh are still awaiting scan results for official confirmation, it doesn’t look likely to be good news for either man.
He said: “I think Keanan Brand, we’re waiting on a result for him but it doesn’t look good. It’s probably six weeks plus and Andy Badrock has dislocated his shoulder so that could potentially be the season.”
On Brand, he added: “It’s either a lisfranc or a syndesmosis ankle injury there. Both of them are long-term and potentially an operation so we’re just waiting on the scans for that. It’s nothing short of six weeks.”
Leigh Leopards star 50/50 for Wakefield clash
Unfortunately for Leigh, those two were not the only casualties as Lam confirmed that Trout was a doubt though he did welcome back second-rower Matty Davis.
Lam explained: “There’s also some doubt around Owen Trout as well so we’ve just got to jiggle the squad. Matt Davis will probably come into contention back from a HIA, which he missed last week with after an extended break.”
Asked more about Trout, the Leigh coach said: “He’s 50/50 at the moment. He got a bit of a rib cartilage issue. It’s in his lower back part. He came off and didn’t go back on as well because it was a risk.
“We’ll give him up to kick off to be right for that. If he plays then it’ll be great for us and if he doesn’t, I’m not sure what we’re going to do but we’ll sort a way through it.”

Adrian Lam shares injury return timelines
Even if Trout doesn’t make it, Lam welcomed the challenge as the club’s next man up mentality shone through.
The Leopards boss said: “He’s up and moving. There is a chance there but having said that, I’ve still got a squad of 17 there that can pull the jersey on and have a good crack. That’s what we’re about. The new players that are in can certainly step up.”
There was also a positive update in that a number of players are expected to return in the coming weeks at a possible rate of one a week, something that will be a major boost to the club.
On returnees, Lam said: “There’s a few coming back. Matty Davis this week as I mentioned and then probably one a week after that as we go along.
“I think Davey Armstong is probably three weeks, Joe Ofahengaue is two to three weeks, Umyla (Hanley) is two to three weeks, Bailey Hodgson is I think about four or five weeks. Then the list goes on.”
