Leigh Leopards reveal 2026 squad numbers as England international’s positional switch confirmed

Leigh Leopards have confirmed their squad numbers for the upcoming season, as the side look to push for a place in the top two for the first time in their history.

After finishing a club-record third in 2025, Adrian Lam’s side will no doubt want to better that again this year, and with the squad they have assembled, it’s hard to back against them challenging at the top once again.

The club have brought in five new players this off-season, though only one of them has received a squad number in the starting 13.

That man is Adam Cook, who joins the club from Canberra Raiders. He is seen as the long-term halves partner to Lachlan Lam, and he replaces Gareth O’Brien in the six jersey, with the veteran playmaker moving down the order to number 21.

PNG international duo Jacob Alick-Wiencke and Liam Horne have also joined the club, with the links between the Leopards and the Kumuls paying off once again.

The pair will wear 15 and 17 respectively, whilst fellow new recruits Innes Senior and Oliver Polec will don numbers 19 and 30.

In a move that has now become permanent, forward Owen Trout has switched from number eight to 12, suggesting he will be a more prominent member of the back row this campaign. He takes Jack Hughes’ shirt, with the former Wigan man moving to 22.

Whilst it was never announced by the club, it was widely reported that overseas prop Alec Tuitavake had left the Leigh Sports Village this off-season. His absence from the 2026 team sheet confirms that, and he is now a free agent.

Keanan Brand replaces the outgoing Darnell McIntosh in the two jersey. The former Love Island star had a brilliant year in 2025, scoring 20 tries in 28 appearances.

Leigh Leopards 2026 squad numbers: 1. David Armstrong, 2. Keanan Brand, 3. Tesi Niu, 4. Umyla Hanley, 5. Josh Charnley, 6. Adam Cook, 7. Lachlan Lam, 8. Joe Ofahengaue, 9. Edwin Ipape, 10.
