Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has admitted that it will take his team some time to get over their Challenge Cup semi-final defeat.
The Leopards lost 21-14 to a Warrington Wolves side who are now making their second Challenge Cup Final appearance in a row.
The return of Marc Sneyd for the Wolves, as well as a vintage Paul Vaughan performance, gave Warrington the victory over an underperforming Leopards side.
Lam shared that it’s a tough loss to take and thought that his team never fully got it together in the match.
Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside after the match, he said: “I’m very frustrated and disappointed. It was just some dumb individual things at times and we couldn’t get the flow or find any rhythm in the game.
“I think emotionally we are going to be hurt from that, and it will take us some time to get over it, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up quickly.”
Leigh Leopards’ Adrian Lam makes Paul Vaughan point
Leigh have won five games on the bounce going into this semi-final. This form has moved them up to third in the Super League table, and with Warrington sitting down in ninth, a tough encounter was expected, but most thought Leigh would do enough to get to Wembley.
The Leigh Leopards coach thought his side were way off what they’ve produced in recent weeks, especially in defence, something which they’ve prided themselves on in 2025.
He finished: “I thought we weren’t even close for a lot of the game. I felt like we were chasing it the whole time, and we weren’t connected as a group.
“Defensively, we were poor, and at times they just fell through us and made (Paul) Vaughan look like he was in his prime.”
Leigh Leopards next face a trip to reigning Super League champions Wigan Warriors on Friday night, where they will now have their sole focus on making it to Old Trafford.
